A former Singapore General Hospital (SGH) plastic surgeon, Dr. Leo Kah Woon, was suspended for three months by the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) after unlawfully accessing SGH’s patient database in 2012. He used the information to investigate a suspected extramarital affair, even installing spyware and keylogging software on a shared laptop to intercept personal communications, which he then leveraged in divorce proceedings. The SMC disciplinary tribunal censured him, imposed a written undertaking against repeating the offence, and ordered him to bear the legal costs. The tribunal emphasized that such misuse of medical systems gravely undermines professional integrity.
